It's the Great {Linus} Pumpkin!

I was going through some old pictures and came across this guy:

He was a school project by my youngest daughter last year (before my blogging days). She was supposed to pick out a book and we as a family were to decorate a pumpkin that went along with the book. So she wanted to do Linus waiting for the Great Pumpkin.

The next steps were the hardest. The hubs carved the stump into the shape of Linus's ear with a Dremel. Next we painted the pumpkin . It took many coats of the acrylic paint I used. Perhaps a primer would help? Or maybe a different type of paint. Also, the paint pealed off in some spots so I might suggest spraying a lacquer on it if you try this.

We made his body shape with bent cardboard, glued it to the pumpkin and then covered it with blue felt to look like his blanket. We cut his shoes out of construction paper and glued it to the cardboard.

His hair is pipe cleaners and my husband drew his face and hand with a Sharpie.

He turned out really cute!

Don't you think? Have a great day!
